I made a series of copper pieces. 3 different forms, focusing on the different types of properties. Curves, angles, hard edges. The copper was beat, rolled and formed. Ribbon was pressed onto the curved piece leaving its ridged markings along the spine.
I was interested in filming these pieces as metaphors for emotions. What does an object, a person, an emotion confined within an emotional space look like? How does it respond? I focused on the perimeters of the space it was confined too, also the object itself, its sound, shadow, speed and direction of movement. Sometimes it goes off the edge, breaking a boundary. It’s unpredictable. There is something organ-like, internal, irregular beats resonate as this piece nervously pauses and moves about the space. It feels fragile, yet the copper now formed is strong, there is beauty in this contradiction and its uncertainty.
